The National Ombudsman is independent and impartial and he is there to defend your interests. He also keeps a critical eye on government. Reinier van Zutphen is the National Ombudsman since April 2015. He has 170 support workers to help him do the job. There are two deputy ombudsmen: Mrs Joyce Sylvester and Mrs Margrite Kalverboer (children’s ombudsman).
