    Complaints regarding medical transfers

For residents of the Caribbean Netherlands, medical treatment in another country may sometimes be necessary to receive appropriate healthcare. Such a transfer can have a major impact on the patient concerned. It is therefore important that the procedure during and after medical transfers is organised well and with due care.

The National Ombudsman regularly receives complaints about medical transfers in the Caribbean Netherlands. In addition, long-term issues frequently arise during discussions with relevant organisations on the islands. This was reason enough for the National Ombudsman to launch this investigation.

The study will be published at the end of 2025.
